If you listened to any news on 30th November – you can’t have failed to hear the announcement launching the National Poetry Archive website – an on-line resource which allows you to hear poets from Ahlberg to Yeats reading extracts from their work.
Highlights include Tennyson reading “The Charge of the Light Brigade.” There is even a special children’s section.
If anyone logged on from a school in this (and many other Local Authorities) they would have been disappointed. The sound is streamed using Real Player – and cannot be used over the LA network – though sometime in the this should be possible. In the meantime this is one site which can only be used from domestic connections
