The Practical Support Pack is an online collection of downloadable resources designed to help primary and KS3 secondary teachers develop their teaching practice using ICT. They include lesson plans, audio/video clips, presentations, software applications, skills guidance and evaluation materials. There’s also an extensive library of video case studies.
The web address is http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/supportpack/
The website has all the materials a teacher will need to teach a particular subject topic using ICT, from preparation and planning through to evaluation and homework. The materials are organised into modules and are easy to search. Using the materials can help teachers find inspiration and fresh approaches to teaching familiar topics. This will help teachers teach, pupils learn and contribute to raising standards in the classroom.
Teachers can use the Practical Support Pack in a number of different ways – either independently; with a mentor or coach; or a resource built into a Hands on Support programme and so used with the support of a HoS provider. Whilst the site is quite intuitive to use, we recognise that some teachers may welcome the additional benefit that working with their Hands on Support provider offers, which further reinforces the benefits of the programme.
