Launched on 7th February 2006, this site (http://www.internetsafetyzone.co.uk/) aims to be the definitive one stop website offering best practice internet safety information and advice for both parents and children. Although the site is aimed at home users – there are many links, resources and information which will be of use to schools.

Other sources of information on E Safety

One of the speakers at the BwD E Learning Conference will be Ruth Hammond, Education Officer at Becta, who recently presented on experiences of implementing internet safety programmes in education at the national Safer Internet Conference.

There are other web sites which may be of interest on this topic: http://www.safety.ngfl.gov.uk/ - has sections for schools, and parents http://www.getsafeonline.org/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=1182 – the bottom half of the page has links to other parts of the site, specific to children and parents/adults – perhaps a bit dry – but some of the more useful links from it are:

http://www.cybersmartkids.com.au/
http://www.netsmartz.org/

The Internet Safety area of GridClub is still free: http://www.gridclub.com/freearea/tasters/cybercafe/base.htm

The AOL television ads about the Internet good thing/bad thing could also be useful for promoting class discussion. These can be viewed on line at: http://discuss.aol.co.uk/home.aspx?id_Content=2 along with a transcript (unfortunately the image size is small).

Two paper publications (which can also be downloaded as .pdf files) can be ordered on-line:
